The Center for Hope Hospice & Palliative Care bereavement services, which
are available to all, takes survivors through the step-by-step journey toward
acceptance and healing. The bereavement program continues for up to 13
months following the death of a loved one. Survivors can participate in
the Center's "Journey Through Grief" lecture and discussion series which
addresses issues such as anger, guilt, survival and healing over a period of six
weeks. In addition, family members have the opportunity to join
"grief-related" groups that offer support for the specific needs of widows,
widowers, parents or children. Individual counseling is available for all
situations.
Children ages 5 through 15 receive particularly careful handling within the
Children's Bereavement Program. The age of the children and their
involvement with the patient during a terminal illness are major considerations
in determining what kind of support will be most helpful. All bereavement
services at the Center For Hope Hospice & Palliative Care are provided by
trained grief support counselors.
Camp Starbright offers bereavement day camp opportunities for children who have
experienced the death of a loved one.
